Tunes-The Companionship That is Music

A very important part of every day growing up was time spent listening to music. That has continued to today. My music is my safe haven, always ready to fire up and provide a rest from the daily grind or a way to channel emotions that might otherwise get in the way of doing what needed to be done. It is always ready to pick me up whether in my car, at home, or out for a walk. It can fit every mood, from happy to angry to feeling down. Music has something to fit all of those feelings.
My go-to has always been the 70’s rock bands. I can turn on the Beatles or the Rolling Stones and get totally lost in the strong beats and well-known lyrics of those bands.  I can escape and find comfort and a calming that really helps me deal with the frustrations of the day. But its not just limited to that music. Now and then the mood calls for Sinatra, or techno, or an 80’s band. The raw emotion of Adele is sometimes the right medicine.
Over time it has become easier and easier to tap into my tunes. Today, the huge library of music available at my fingertips allows me to reach for any band or song that comes to mind. This era of integrated sound systems at home and in the car, and Bluetooth connected headphones and other devices makes it so easy to escape to my music.
We at Dyscuss talk about the importance of finding ways to deal with the frustrations of dyslexia. I would strongly encourage each of you to explore the world of music and its power to get you through the day. It is a constant companion that never lets me down.
